Hello Eugene,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Trailing stops are a part of NinjaTrader's Advanced Trade Management (ATM) strategies. ATM Strategies are designed to provide discretionary traders with semi-automated features to manage their positions.
You can learn more about ATM Strategies in the NinjaTrader help guide at this link:
http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/index.html?advanced_trade_management_atm.htm
As an example, I will guide you through creating an ATM Strategy using the SuperDOM with a trailing stop that will trail behind the current position price of an instrument by two ticks and will follow with every tick in profit.
At the bottom of the SuperDOM, you will notice a section titled ATM Strategy. Here, you would want to select <Custom>
To use ATM Strategies, you would need, at the least, a stop loss. Let's set that to 2 ticks
Select <Custom> in the Stop strategy section. A Stop Strategy window will pop up
Under Auto trail (ticks), you will want to have a stop loss of 2, a frequency of 1, and a profit trigger of 1. The stop loss value denotes how many ticks behind the current position price you would like your stop loss trigger to be placed at. The frequency denotes how many ticks of profit you would like to get before your stop loss moves again. In this case, a value of 1 will cause the stop loss to move every time you get a tick of profit. The profit trigger denotes how many ticks of profit you would like to gain before the auto trail executes. In this case, a value of 1 will cause this trigger to execute immediately when you receive a tick in profit.
After setting these values, click on OK.
When you place an order, as long as the ATM Strategy is selected, that specific order will have that trailing stop attached to it.
